A Simple Mind

Calm your mind, my Friend,
for it is a good servant yet a bad master
In calmness humility gained, then angels sent in to foster
For you is the servant revering the Great One
Other than Him there is none
He who reveals nothing but love
a conquering mind does not know anything of
for it perceives merely distress and anguish
A simple mind instead provides lavish

Resign yourself to His love that knows no boundaries,
that breaks through time, that gets free of fallacies
Do not raise any question, my Friend, and do not strive to understand—
do not even think to fight the essentially helping Hand
until the Teacher Within leads you to the learning
that things and episodes are here for your earning

Go, my Friend—let go and grow
to the divine touchstones that consent you to flow
like the streaming water from mountain-springs
to the ocean of joy a submitting soul brings
Set aside your revolting mind
that tortures you so unkind,
for you are its servant if you comply
to the fleeting lies it wants you to buy

Go, my Friend, stand straight, eyes closed, and sense His Might
that permeates you, body and soul, day and night
Realize in utter awareness the sensation of surrender,
feeling the vibration such feats constantly engender
Your simple mind, bare of fancies, blessed by the Divine
to follow the light through the path so fine…
