A longtime Subud brother recently shared his thoughts with a new member of the South Jakarta group, in front of me, on the east terrace of the Cilandak Latihan Hall. As usual, new members are euphoric and feel that everyone should be in Subud.
This longtime member said: “People who join Subud are chosen ones.
Those who are interested in Subud may not want to apply. Those who are in the
waiting period may not want to be opened. Once opened, they may not want to
continue to do the Latihan. Those who do the Latihan may not be ready to accept
reality. Those who get reality may not want to believe in it, so they don't
want to follow it.
“Why do things like this happen? If you believe
that God wills or that God exists, you don't need to question it. Even if you don't
believe in God, why waste your time thinking about why people want to join or
not join Subud? Here, in Subud, reason is over!” ©2022
